The first snowdrops

Yesterday I cut my first little bunch of snowdrops. I had a poorly child at home with me, so she got a hot chocolate and a jar of snowdrops. They were closed when I brought them indoors, and as promised, took about ten minutes to open.

Their honey scent is delicious.

Snowdrops are brilliant for a spot of Mindful indulgence (see my earlier post Focus on a flower‘). They are so perfectly white, so simple, elegant, intricate. That delicate little pedicel (the arching green stalk from which the flower dangles) and the stencilling of green on the under-skirt.

I hope you can find a little clump of snowdrops, but if you can’t, here’s mine.

Sorry for the dodgy photography – it seems impossible to get an iPhone to focus on a snowdrop!
