Blogging is so much more than I expected. I thought I would just be writing a few thoughts and tips about gardening. I had no idea that there was a blog culture of reading and commenting and entering into dialogue with other bloggers. I have found blogs that I had no intention of looking for, but that just pulled me in. Blogs about creativity, craft, art, photography, writing, inspiration…
I have really enjoyed taking part in a couple of gardening memes, Six on Saturday, hosted by ‘The Propagator’ and In a vase on Monday, hosted by ‘Rambling in the Garden’. For those of you who are new to memes (I was), it is a theme shared by a number of bloggers, who each write a post on that topic, and comment on one anothers’ posts.
I am wondering if there is room for a Sunday meme, open to non-gardener bloggers too? I’m thinking ‘Soulful Sunday’. This would be anything that makes you feel emotional, warm and fuzzy, grateful, inspired, appreciative of the world around us? But also if you feel you need a little connection with positivity, a way of reaching out to others and feeling reassured that we are all part of the same universe, and that the overwhelming urge in this world is to share and understand one another, to show compassion and kindness.
So it could a be a photo, a recipe, something that has touched you, something that made you stop and stare and want to tell someone about it, a warm thought, a special person, something really small and apparently insignificant but that has made a difference to how you feel about the world.
So my first Soulful Sunday is about taking a walk with my loved one. This morning Stevie suggested we go for a walk over the snowy fields before it all melts away.
We tracked animal footprints, spotting lots of different-sized birds, rabbits, foxes, possibly a badger, possibly a deer.
We admired the partly-frozen river and the undulating snowdrifts along its banks.
There were gnarly oaks:.
And blue blue sky.
The snow got softer in the sun; the crunch sound changed to something softer. It glistened blue.
It will be gone tomorrow, but we enjoyed it today. We made the most of it.
If you are a blogger and want to join in with this meme, write a post with ‘Soulful Sunday’ in its title, and copy the URL into the comments box below. If you know how to, add a link to this page. If you don’t, message me below, and I’ll talk you through it!
You might have an old post you feel is relevant – given that this is the first week, and haven’t had any time to think about it, stick it in! Recycling is good.
If you’re not a blogger and are just reading this post, you can join in by clicking on links in the comments section to see other posts. I’m guessing it might be a bit quiet or totally silent this week, but might get going over a few weeks (trying not to sound needy)!
